 o
Brown or green source

My ornamental grass plants have bamboo-like, 1/4" diameter, 48" long, hollow seed stems. Are these stems a source of brown (carbon) or a source of green (nitrogen) ??

I'm sure it would be a combination when fresh but dried out it would be a great brown when chopped.

If cut while still green they would be a Green, Nitrogen, source but if you wait until they turn brown to cut them down then they would be a high Carbon, brown, source. If cut while still green and then cured in much the same way hay is they probably would be a good Nitrogen source.
