Aphids? The fall crop of Kale is covered in aphids, can I just throw the whole thing ito my black soil saver composter and hope they roast or it would be more prudent to toss the kale into a garbage bag. Thank you!

Not knowing a "black soil saver" but hoping it has a crank, toss those suckers in there with the existing other stuff and twist it about 8 times, slowly. No prob.

They will make good compost ;)

Aphids will starve with no living plants to feed on.

Aphids have a total life span of about 30 days, so tossing Aphid infested plants into the compost will result in them dying, either from old age or the composting process and it makes no difference which does it. Since those Aphids will be producing more young you could, maybe, have some Aphid infested compost.
Aphids are simple to knock off plants with a sharp water spray which can come from a spray bottle, there is no need to use your garden hose unless you wish but if you doo use due care since the pressure from that hose nozzle can tear the plant apart and do more damage then the Aphids.
