How do you use your compost?

I'm curious to hear how everyone uses their mulch. This came up in conversation and I was surprised to hear how differently various people used their finished compost. Just curious....

Meant compost, not mulch

Try this. Take an empty gal jug and scoop some compost in it then fill with declorinated water and shake. Keep shaking for about a min or two. Believe it or not that is compost tea. Feed the solution to your plants or even mist if it is more diluted. It is more effective than just topdressing then watering.

We use compost in a couple of ways.
1 When building a new bed, we spread the compost on top of the loosened soil.
2 When planting larger plants, we shovel some compost into the hole.
3 Fling it over the lawn for topdressing, also shovel some underneath newly laid plugs of grass.
4 Compost tea that we spray on everything...we brew ours with aeration and an aquarium pump for circulation and add agricultural molasses, seaweed extract and fish emulsion.

Plunk finished compost on the soil and cover that with a mulch so the compost stays moist.
Fill contianers with compost and grow various plants in it, even though some people here seem to think you cannot do that.
If I have enough I would spread it, about 1/4 inch thick, ove rhe lawn.
Compost tea can be made but it will not help much on soils devoid of organic matter and is not needed on soils with sufficient orgnaic matter.

Lately I've been making compost tea. In the spring I added some to the garden...mainly a shovelful to the holes.

Whenever I plant, I mix some compost into the fill dirt. I am about to finish a multi-year expansion of my gardens (turned out that the 12' x 40' was FULL of rocks) and I have been digging compost, some not quite finished, into the soil as I moved along.

Last fall I planted fescue grass seed in a shady area that would not sustain regular grass. I scraped up the soil, spread compost about 1/4 to 1/2 inch on top of the soil, then scattered the fescue seed. Voila, new lawn.

I fork it in my planting areas and I use all I can get my hands on for mulch.

I can never make enough compost so mix it with fine wood shavings/sawdust and use as mulch.
