My 5 gallon compost bucket is hot!!!!

I've been lurking on here for a few weeks now, learning all about your experiences with composting. As my username implies, I have a very limited gardening area & am sort of out to prove something. Anyway, most things I read about very small scale composting says that it won't get up to thermophillic temps due to it's size. As I have yet to get a proper thermometer for it, I'm not sure how hot it is, but when I manually aerated it about an hour ago it was hot. Earlier today I added extra carbon material & aerated it & also added some thick cardboard tubes (from foil rolls) with holes drilled for extra air circulation. It wasn't hot then. I guess I got the "recipe" right. It's mainly kitchen scraps, ugc, shredded newspaper, dried leaves & grasses & a little bit of "homemade liquid nitrogen". The composter is just 2 five gallon buckets with holes drilled in them except none drilled on the bottom of the outer bucket. I manually turn it every 2nd day, but now that it's hot, I may not.
Well, I just wanted to share my exciting news. I'm sure you'll see me on here more now that my experiment is working :)

Mazol Tov, I too am new to composting and built a 4x4x4 box on the ground; about a week ago it got up to 130 degrees. It's back down around 110 and doing its' thing, my mother came over to hang out the other day, she was amazed at the steam coming out.

She worried I might burn the house down...mothers ;p

Funny story: it's not even close to 5 gallons. It might be 2. It doesn't stay hot for long before I have to aerate &/or add to it, so I'm going to transfer it into a 5 gal. Its especially funny to me since I was thinking about upsizing when I saw 20+ gal barrels for sale. That would probably be a bit big for my space. Lol.
