Solarizing wild ageratum

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this. I have two patches of wild ageratum, one of which I am considering eliminating because it has spread too much and is in the way of a shrub that I recently planted. I would want to mulch the area around the shrub and sow grass seed over the rest. The area is about 8'x10'.

I am wondering if I need to solarize the area after I pull the ageratum. I am assuming seeds and rhizomes will be left in the soil if I don't. I could cover the area next weekend and leave in place until September. Any advice if this is a good idea, or unnecessary if I pull the plants, or won't work like I think? Thanks in advance.
