Hi,
I am in Beaumont Texas, and need some sheep manure. Or a place that sells it! I can travel to places close by, but am looking more for someone who can ship it! Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Felicia

Out of curiosity, why sheep?

I was instructed to get sheep manure! Besides it is very good for the gardens, I used it before and the garden was great, but that was years ago, and now I am not able to find any local!

I suggest contacting the numerous horse breeders in your area to obtain manure. In this area, they are usually ecstatic to get rid of it, though some large operations contract with mushroom growers for compost feedstock.

The good thing about horse manure is a higher nitrogen content as they do not process feed like sheep (ruminants).

The downside is a greater possibility of weed seed.

At one time sheep manure was considered to be a better manure to use, especially by rose gardeners. Whether that was just hype or because these rose gardeners could not use something as mundane as horse manure I am not sure. Finding sheep manure today can be really difficult because very few of the manure processors are.

What about rabbit? I get mine at a local rabbit rescue organization.

If you are set on sheep manure, why don't you contact the local Ag Extension office and ask them whether there are any sheep ranches around your area? Or the Cattlemen's Association, Sheep Council, or whatever organizations you have down there.

you can also try craigslist. I have found various forms of manure for sell or for free.
