There probably was not any really good reason to pull those plants, squash is one of the many plants that is susceptible to Powdery Mildew nad that is easily controlled with a spray of either 1 teaspoon baking soda in 1 quart of water, or a 50/50 mix of fat free milk and water, sprayed on the plants every 5 to 7 days if they are infected.
Now that thye have been yanked out you can compost them.

I had to pull them up they were covering up my pepper plants. I waited to the last minute to do it. The second planting should be producing soon. I've never seen squash plants get this big before. In the compost pile they go. Thanks.

The SVB overwinters in the soil. If you are HOT composting that may or may not kill the larvae depending on where they are in the pile. If you think they may have the larvae and burning is permitted where you live, well have at it.

Powdery mildew is something you will not likely get rid of no matter what you do, since it is airborne.

Just thought I'd mention the SVB thing.

No sign of SVB for the first time in 25 years. I am glad they were happy. I will give them much more elbow room next year.
