| I have a nasty bug on my front roses called a leaf notcher weevil. From what I'm reading nothing will kill it and it has no natural predators. The adults eat the leaves, the larvae eat the roots and they have a wide range of plants that they like.I have seen some in the grass. Am I just making this bug problem worse by using the clippings in the compost? Thanks for your help.

| Jean - which question are you answering with a 'no'? The title or the final question in the post? |
|
| That no pesticide lists "Myllocerus undatus" as a target means the product has not been tested on it, not that it will not aid in control. The web site Jean posted says Carbaryl can help control them as can pyrethrin based dusts and sprays. I would try a pyrethrine based product first. Since the adult beetle lays its eggs in organic matter at the base of the target plant it might well be a good idea to forgo mulching for a while. |

| Try diatomaceous earth. |
|
| The "no" is for the question in subject line. |

| ACK, didn't finish my coffee yet. "no" is for "Am I just making this bug problem worse by using the clippings in the compost?" (sigh) |
