| I was disappointed to read about this in the Winnipeg Free Press. It seems a backward step for the city. I think the bad publicity about odour would discourage newbies from considering composting also.
I was wondering what Lloyd's opinion would be, though I know his operation is completely different. Hope things are going okay for your family, Lloyd. |

| Wow, this is a bummer in so many ways. |

| Ya I've been following this story and discussing it with several people. Like the story and some of the comments say, this guy pooched it big time. His procedures and methods are poor at best. His location was poorly thought out, if at all and this kind of publicity only makes it more difficult for those that are more responsible to get approval of any plans. I've also talked to a couple of landscape companies that used some of his product and they had some very discouraging results. It's difficult to claim that composting is benign when this kind of thing happens. I am making a presentation of my operation to an association of municipalities on Sept 27th. These guys are mostly smaller communities that are looking for easy, inexpensive alternatives to landfilling organics and I am sure Samborski will come up in the discussion. Hopefully they will have time for a tour as well, we shall see. DD is still in dialysis three times a week so not much change there. We are considering peritoneal dialysis and have a consult coming up in October. Thx for asking. Lloyd |

| Now I've seen it all: a z1! I presume you share quarters with Santa? |

| I am in zone 1b on the Canadian zone map, which is different from the American. I think they did a disservice to us with that new map. It perpetuates the myth that we all live in igloos, lol. I'm sorry to hear your DD hasn't improved, Lloyd. That must be such a struggle for everyone.

| Had a guy start a "composting" operation one spring down the road way back and out of sight but not far enough for the nose. Unfortunately he started composting only with grass clippings, very little in the way of carbon and anyone even driving by could smell this "composting" operation. There are some people that think all compost will have a putrid odor because they have no experience with proper composting and do not know what that good, rich earth smell is. |
