| I'd like to start rehabilitating some heavy, compacted clay soil and just caught on to the idea of green manures.
So far I've been having a rough time finding green manures suited to this heavy clay, can anybody offer some suggestions? Thanks. |

| To clarify: How large an area are you dealing with? What kind of water/irrigation is available? What end-use do you plan? What kinds of equipment do you have now or plan on? For my very small garden plot, I've found Swiss Chard roots effective at penetrating clay. Also, LAMB'S QUARTERS is a common edible 'weed' here, and its roots seem to thrive in irrigated clay soils.
