| the various grubs and worms etc that might be in my compost pin. ?????
I think they might be grubs... I esp noticed when i lifted the lid while ago and saw the whatever all over a half apple I put in yesterday.... It is a black plastic covered bin I have had for several years..... It may be too wet... Since I bought like over a bushel of apples peeled them etc and mostly veggies peelings go in my compost bin. Occasionally, when I see dry leaves, like my big okra leaves. I let them dry in the sun and hand crumble them into the covered bin.... and occ add dry grass clippings I also occ add a handful of dry lime. Oh lots of free SBucks coffee grounds in there I put stem end like from cucumbers and zuke and oranges peeling and larger rinds, etc in the city yard waste recycling.. I turn it maybe once a month..... Thanks jean |

| A better idea would be for you to take pictures of what you have found and let US see! |

| If what you have looks like these in the link below you will have a good idea what you have. Grubs and maggots, the larva of flies, will be living in and growing in compost that may be too wet for the aerobic bacteria to function properly and you need to take steps to dry that material. Grubs, generally, will be buried in the compost while maggots will, generally, be on the material, very visible. |
Here is a link that might be useful: grubs

| Grubs are the larvae of beetles, not flies. The maggot part was correct. |
