| I know there is not much difference appearance-wise, but do you think hairy grama or blue grama will decompose faster? I know hairy grama is more drought tolerant, so do you think this will affect how much lignin or cellulose is present? |

| More then whether someting has more lignin or cellulose what determines how quickly that material might be digested is the size of the particles and the ratio of Carbon to Nitrogen present as well as the moisture in the mix. Oak leaves tend to be digested slowly because of the tannic acid in them, but when they are shredded into small bits and pieces they are digested about as fast as Maple leaves. Finely ground bark will be digested almost as fast as kitchen waste when all things are equal. |
