Garden calculators

Have you ever gotten the results of a soil test that gives you rates for individual nutrients but doesn't tell you exactly what fertilizer to use? Do you know what fertilizer you want to use, but worry about how much to apply?

Worry no more! I've written a nice little suite of calculators for ya. (Well, I think they're nice anyway)

The meat of the thing is a calculator that I, in my own creative way, call "Fertilizer Calculator #1" This guy helps you figure out what fertilizers contain the nutrients you need and at what rate to apply each of them to match the recommendations you received. And check out the "custom fertilizer" option that lets you plug in any guaranteed analysis for the same great information about your favorite sack of N,P, and/or K! Perfect for organic fertilizers with low and/or unusual guaranteed analysis.
It looks like this:

But wait! That's not all! You also get the appropriately named "Fertilizer Calculator #2"! This little gem is used to figure out how much of each nutrient will be supplied by a fertilizer you choose at a rate you think you want to apply. It looks like this:

If you act now, you will also get the handy "Area calculator":

Which works in conjunction with the amazing "Mulch / Amendment Calculator", to help you figure out how much stuff to buy to get your mulch exactly as thick as you want:

Is that all? Oh no, friend! There's more! "But how could there possibly be any more?!?", you may ask. Well, it's just this easy:

A compact little calculator for converting your soil test results from parts per million into lbs. per acre and back again, so that you can see the results in the units you're most comfortable with.

You get:
*Fertilizer Calculator #1
*Fertilizer Calculator #2
*Area Calculator
*Mulch / Amendment Calculator
AND
*The PPM / Lbs. per acre calculator

There's just one catch (ain't there always?) I've written all this in Microsoft Excel, so if you don't have Excel installed on your computer, you can download the file but it won't do anything for you.

Just click on the link below. Save it to your hard drive. Open it with Excel and you're all set:

Garden Calculator

If you have any problems with any of the calculators, there is a help file included. Alternately, you could email me (my email address is at the bottom of the help file) or post a question in this thread.

Happy calculatin'.

Hi Gargwarb,

Truly awesome stuff. I started using it already. What is the origin of Gargwarb? Thanks. Aloha.

RE: Garden calculators

Hi lehua13, I'm glad you like them. I hope you find them useful. The name is literally a random jumble of letters. I wanted something that I could type with one hand while I worked the mouse with the other. I just punched out a line of letters with my left hand and somewhere in the middle of the mess was "gargwarb". I just liked the sound of it.

RE: Garden calculators

Links are dead...is this out there somewhere? Anything similar? I am looking to add variable amounts of two different fertilizers to come up with a custom mix...
