 o
add squash leaves with powdery mildew to pile or city collection?

A lot of the squash leaves have powdery mildew - next year I may space them out a bit more. Would you add to compost pile? The city picks up yard waste and I was thinking of doing that. I don't compost my tomato plants that are blight at the end of season, but I am not sure about the powdery mildew on squash foliage.

The spores that will cause Powdery Mildew in the future need living plant tissue to say viable. Many sources do tell you to toss out PM infected plant tissue while some of us have not seen any adverse affect composting many different plant diseases. I would compost those squash leaves, but then I have also composted many other plant disease and have not seen any problem doing that.

Here is a link that might be useful: Powdery Mildew
