Free Coffee at Work!

Hi all...still new to gardening. I hope I'm posting this to the right forum. I figured you all would be able to best answer this question. So we have free coffee at work. And whomever takes the last has to make more. So we're constantly tossing a filter full of coffee grinds in the trash. I was thinking that I should grab a few each day and bring them home for the plants. Without being obsessive of course. Problem is I really don't know what to do with that stuff. Here's the plants I have: Roses, Hydrangeas, Cottonball, Meyer Lemon and Hibiscus. Those are the big ones. So do any of these benefit from coffee grids and should I just toss it on the soil or make some kind of mixture? Also can I leave the filter paper in..should just compost right?
