Do pistachio shells compost?? Thanks
Follow-Up Postings:

They're organic, so the answer is yes. They might take a millennia, but eventually, they'll compost. Karen

Pistachio shells and other things that break down very slowly are beneficial in the compost and soil as they create pockets of air and help prevent compaction of the soil. If you have a problem with slugs and want to take some time to crush the shells and place around plants the sharp edges will stop the slugs.

Thanks to both for your answers! I have a leaf vacuum and it crushes things. Think I'll crush them before putting in the compost!

Even with the fine screen in my shredder the pistachio shells did not get chopped up much. They are simply too small and pass right through the hammermill almost untouched.
