| Is it ok to put peony foliage into a compost pile? I am lasagna building new beds for '13 and need green material. Don't plan to plant peonys there, just cut flowers, probably annuals first couple of years.

| Agree with mustard with one qualification - if it is clean (disease free) foliage. If it has had botrytis blight you should toss it so as to lessen the chance for the same problem next year for any peonies that are in the neighborhood of the pile...see "Cultural Control" in the link below. If you are getting the foliage somewhere else and there aren't any peonies around, compost it anyway. hortster |
