yes ... warm water will do it ...

put it in a container ... and use some warm water ... come back in a day or two ... and start breaking it apart ... just keep at it ... but it isnt going to soak up water.. like a peat based media though ...

it can take a long time .. to rehydrate compressed peat ... but its possible .. hope you didnt plan on using it soon ...

ps: i once had a bright idea to use dish soap with the hot water ... figuring it was a surfactant ... lol.. way before the WWWeb ... lol ... every hard rain.. my garden would foam ... oh well.. live and learn ....

Peat will eventually take up water if left alone and submerged. It was, after all, a bog at some point. :-]

Use boiling water!

I would not use boiling water, because of the chance of incurring burns and there is no need to kill off disease pathogens, but I would soak that peat moss block in hot water.
