Just get a small container for your kitchen scraps and add it to your compost pile outside regularly. There are a TON of these on the market - I have this one, and I have to say, it is totally odor free even if I forget about it for weeks - which I sometimes do (*blush*)

Or dump it directly into your vermiculture bins.

I don't know what that other thing is but I wouldn't waste the money on it. It won't make proper compost. It might make some kind of sludge, but compost takes time and it involved the growth of beneficial micro-organisms that ultimately help your soil. That won't happen in that device.

That's exactly what I do, but for people living in a small apartment that has no backyard and cannot use a vermi bin it is a neat device. But again is the outcome real compost?

There is not much information on that page. It says it will reduce food waste to an 'odorless, dry powder'. Which sounds like it grinds and then dehydrates the food scrap rather than composting. Also, it claims to eliminate wet, decaying food waste and odors. Moisture and 'decay' is what composting is. Based on that I do no think this is a composter.

The dried powder could be added to a compost bin or pile later, though, so to answer your second question, yes, the output could be composted. It could certainly be a way to stockpile dried odor free material so it could be composted later or transported somewhere else to compost.

It appears to be a counter top version of a commercial restaurant/food service compost maker. The big ones grind, cook, and dessicate commercial quantities of food scraps as an alternative to paying to have the garbage hauled away. Sometimes there's a lot of garbage!

Commercially it is a convenience item that solves a bunch of problems (stink, flies, disease, runoff, cleanup, expense, college student rioting), but the lack of compost is apparently not the problem it solves. It produces dried fine organic matter but it can't be called compost unless you redefine the term. This does not mean it's bad, and doesn't mean that the final product can't be used in planting / gardening.
