| As a relative newbie on this forum I am loath to rock the boat, as I don't like being snarled at!!
I haven't seen a post on either of the two subject matters, are they forbidden subjects? This is my second year using both and I'm extremely pleased with the results. Could others who use these relatively new ideas post their findings? |

| Forbidden?, not to my knowledge. There is a whole forum dedicated to worms and you're correct, not much discussion 'bout teas. I don't do either, so I never really think of mentioning these. Kinda embarrassing given my rant on "projecting" the other day. :-( Lloyd |

| You are correct. Lots of people know about tea here, but not to much is said about it. And the reason there isn't much said about vermicompost is that the discussion regarding that is generally limited to the vermicomposting forum. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Vermicompost forum...

| I have not a clue? Ask over on the vermicompost forum and you get the old blank stare.( been there done that) It seems like it is only for raising worms? I post over there but soil amendments do not come up Tis a pity as finished worm poo is the best soil amendment available Curt |

| I disagree Curt. Over there they focus on raising the worms because that's the most challenging part, it is also the most visible part. BUT, most of them over there are doing it for the vermicompost. Everyone recognizes the excellence of vermicompost in their garden. When people on here suggest adding OM to their garden, or mention adding compost, that certainly includes VC. Is there a need to spell it out? I thought it was obvious! Maybe not. The folks in the VC forum would agree with that and I would mention that if not all of the folks there, then 99% of them are actually raising the worms to put the VC into the garden or container plants (if indoors). I don't think any of them are doing just to throw the VC into the garbage. |

| Could others who use these relatively new ideas post their findings? To date nothing on the benefits of using both? Surely there must be someone who has found some benefit? |

| beeman; I use finished VC for top dressing of vegetable plants all through the growing season I think of it as the original Miracle Grow. as I have used both products along side of each other and I think that the VC wins. It also is better for the soil. I also use it in my potting mix. 1/3 of my mix is VC, now this is for vegetables and it last for about the first month then I need to fertilize with nitrogen rich fertilizers. I have not done any ACT so no help there. Good luck in your quest. eagles; the people on the vermicomposting forum are the best they just never talk poo Curt |

| Dare I ask....... What is ACT ??? |
|
| "ACT" has been used when referring to Aerated Compost Tea or Activated Compost Tea or Aerobic Compost Tea and then there is AACT for Aerated Activated Compost Tea. (probably more but I can't think of any off the top of my head). Sometimes it is difficult to know exactly what people mean when they use "ACT" and apparently each has subtle differences in the prep and probably usage. I don't do teas but I've read a bit about them. Lloyd |
|
| Some people also use "compost tea" to refer to the liquid that leaks out of a compost pile or tumbler (probably a worm bin as well). That stuff is probably more correctly a leachate, not a tea, but some still use that term. So if it isn't apparent what some are talking about, you'd best ask as there can be a huge difference betwixt leachate and tea IMO. Lloyd |
