| Most years I vaccuum up bags of lady bugs this time of year but for some reason, they weren't that bad this year. Instead we have unbelievable amounts of box-elder bugs. At least these guys don't bite and also don't hang around inside the house all winter long!
Anyway, so far I have completely filled four car-vac bags with dead ones and all are going into the compost. Every day we have over 60 deg. brings them out big time --- I'm looking forward to cold weather. |

| Like the Asian Lady beetle Box Elder bugs like to spend the winter in places like our homes, and like the Asian Lady Beetle they are largely not much of a problem since they eat nothing. We see maybe 3 or 4 a month, never enough to need a vacuum to pick up. That many may indicate they have too easy access to the house and air leaks that can increase heating costs as well. |
