A 3 x 3 x 6 windrow could absorb a gallon or so of fluid easily, but I'm not sure it really has anything to add to the compost. I'd be more concerned with salt than the acid; what kind of pickle juice is it? If it's from the big kosher dills, give it a miss.

According to the label on one of the buckets, they use "Whole Kosher Dill Pickles".

I just did a Google search for "pickle juice" since I've heard that some people swear by drinking the stuff. Turns out that it's being compared to electrolyte replacement sports drinks.

Yeah, drink it yourself and then harvest your urine for the pile. ;-)

Electrolyte replacement is to replace salts lost through exertion and excretion. So you know there's lots of salt in there. It's not enough to poison your pile (54 cub. ft. of material vs. 1 1/4 gal of juice). Some salt, some sugar, some acetic acid, cucumber and dill flavoring - mostly water. Eh. I'd avoid large amounts of it, though.

I also wouldn't try drinking it unless you're either severely depleted on electrolytes or you really like kosher dill pickles.

I've known a few people to go for the pickle juice when they have a stomach ach, kinda odd since most people have trouble with too much acid. Seem that these odd few may have needed more acid to digest certain things I guess.

demeter: I do like kosher dill pickles, but not that much. I can't help but wonder though if diluted pickle juice would taste better than the swill you have to drink as preparation for a colonoscopy ....
