Some 'packing peanuts' are biodegradable, some aren't. See if they dissolve in water. Lloyd

The styrofoam packing peanuts or popcorn will never decay, never rot, will be there forever. They would not be a good addition to compost. The packing peanuts, popcorn, made from starch, they melt when a bit wet, would be okay although there would be nothing left of them of substance. |

Scanning through this thread I got this uncontrollable urge to ask an off topic question. What would happen if one were to eat biodegradable packing material made from cornstarch?

The non-degradable kind are useful when filling up big containers with potting soil. And there is nothing like that sinking feeling when you think that 2 cubic foot box of packing is biodegradable, you toss it on the compost, and then realize that is wan't, and watch it start to blow all over the garden.

Scanning through this thread I got this uncontrollable urge to ask an off topic question. What would happen if one were to eat biodegradable packing material made from cornstarch? I knew a girl that kept a small box of them near here desk and would eat them while she was dieting. As far as I know, she's still alive.
