Horse manure ( just poop )

Hello all, I found a guy that will give me pick-up truck loads of just horse poop, no bedding. So do I use it the same as with bedding or not. I plan to mix it in with my shreded leaves. My leaves are cooking at or around 130-140 degrees right now. My bins of leaves are about 12ft x 4 x 3ft high. I do have a 4" drain tile with holes down the middle on the bottom for air. So is just horse poop a brown or green? ( some is brown and some is green in the middle :) ) By the way my family thinks im crazy for the fact that I like getting horse manure, and free to boot. thanks for you help fespo

The green vs brown question doesn't really have to do with color, but with the ratio of carbon to nitrogen. Horse poop is a green.

A good rule of thumb to follow when using animal manure to make compost is to mix 3 parts vegetative waste to 1 part animal manure. That gets very close to the optimal 30:1 C:N ratio.
