 o
Score, sorta.....

My first lasagna garden was done, sitting and waiting for the rain. The house(a 4-flat)needed a new roof badly, and the 3 other owners and us decided now would be a good time. As usual here, the roofers had no other plans for putting the huge amount of trash form the old, dismantled roof, other than simply throwing it down to the ground and worrying about it later, if at all.
Here's the garden: I hope I do this picture thing right
lasagna with leaf mulch 2

Here it is under the onslaught of rubbish. See the border stones underneath??

They finally cleared it all away, and it's battered but not bowed, so to speak. The SCORE was the pallets and box the roofers were going to toss into the dumpster!!

as well as the broken clay tiles they were going to toss. So all in all, I got a great deal!! Not sure what the pallets will be used for, as the neighbors aren't too keen on me saving "junk", but the large box will be for all those euc leaves to slowly rot in, until they're no longer anti-other plants, and the clay tiles will be broken up for drainage for the muddiest places. Now if we would only get some rain, and break this dangerous drought. (I don't know if y'all have seen our forest fire raging over one of the only real forests here, but we have lost thousands of acres and over 40 lives in the past 24 hours.)

Sorry about the pics being so big, I haven't figured out how to make them smaller. But I'm thrilled about the score, and wanted to share with folks who'd understand! Batya
