| has anyone used a hand operated compost turner to turn over their compost.looking at some that work like a hand drill, that work there way into the compost and turn it over.if so, what kind would they recommend? |

| I have two compostumblers, which both come as hand cranked, and is a real pain. I took off the hand crank and replaced them with 15 to 1 gear reduction. Now I simply take an electric hand drill and in a matter if about 1 to 1.5 minutes, I can make the 5 revolutions they recommend, with no effort. It takes 40 turns on the factory hand crank to turn their drum 5 revolutions as they recommend |

| thanks Ken, but i am looking for one that you hold in your hand and turn it like the old time hand drills. i have a 4ft.square x 3ft high compost box. |

| For 4 x 3 feet a fork would be the best hand operated turner imo. I think a drill-like gadget would be more trouble than it's worth. |
