Green or brown?

My appologies for forgetting but is stale cereal a green or a brown? Also, I had a jug of sugar water, I made more than the hummingbirds needed and I wonder if this sugar water will help the pile break down quicker?

these are both high carbohydrate "carbons" = browns. The sugar water is fine, and in a decent size pile one jug should not create too much moisture - keep the moisture of the pile like a damp sponge.
