Nitrogen pellets in compost tumbler

After receiving my new compost tumbler, and hearing that nitrogen is needed, I did the inevitable (for me)
Plenty of browns and greens are in the tumbler.
I had a bunch of nitrogen pellets left over from years past and threw in about 2 cups...pretty little white pellets in a bunch of what better turn out to be compost...
I am getting an ammonia odor when opening the door.
I feel like I shouldn't have done this..Should I toss it all and try again, only this time without the nitrogen ?
I have a much larger compost pile in the back, 1- 1/2 years
till completion.
I can put it there.and it's done.

Add some more high Carbon material. There is no good reaon to throw out what you already have just because of the ammonia (escaping excess Nitrogen) smell.
