A couple of things I DON'T compost!

I don't compost nasturtium or Morning glory plants/seeds. They are both beautiful, but very invasive!
The nasturtiums go over the fence to the neighbor's goats and the MGs go out to the field cause I'm not sure if they're poisonous or a drug for goats (anyone know?)
I also have a weird pile out in the field of stuff that might have some disease or are a bit too large for the regular pile(s). Oh, that includes the MGs and anything that might be poisonous. nancy

If I had a dog or cat, I would compost their manure separately. I don't though and everything that I suspect might break down gows on the pile. If it's still intact at the end, it goes into the bucket of rubbish that lives by the pile.

Morning Glory is toxic to goats.

Here is a link that might be useful: Morning glory

I compost my "nasty urchins" .... have never had problem with reseeding from compost ... quite a bit from bed that I remove the spent vines from ... but that's not a problem in my small yard ... just pull the seedlings as I putter in the garden. But I'll bet the goats love those plants. Our chickens sure do.

There are certain type of weed Oxalis that should not be composted, even if they are not seeding. Any weeds with seeds should not be composted. If you do you will just have more weeds and more work for yourself.

I do not compost perennial grasses or nut grass, wild onion & wild garlic, no black/dew berry roots.

Thanks, Nova. I was pretty sure they weren't good for the goats, so I don't toss the MGs to them. They do love the nastutiums, though! NT
