Flagstone on top of concrete patio

Hi, I have an existing concrete patio 250 sq ft original to the house. Added to that is a 250 sq ft patio made from 12" X 6" concrete patio paver's set in sand that look good & are stable and firm. I want to lay flagstone on top of both patios to make one big flagstone patio so it looks better. I want to lay it dry with sand between the flagstones. Is this possible?

HGTV had a nice article on this. However, I have never heard of anyone laying it dry, it's always mortared to the top of the patio.

Here's the link that should answer questions.

I think nobody does dry laid on top of concrete because there would probably be trouble every time it rained. The concrete base would prevent the rain from draining away. The sand would saturate and if it was a heavy rain, might float and cause all the rocks to shift. Your rocks would not stay set, every heavy rain would unset them
