what to ask for when order flag?

I am getting some flag stone for a path. I am told a skid holds 80 sq ft. The path will be fairly open and I want larger pieces, not the small stuff that would be used to pieces a patio together.

what do you ask for?

Do you pick it out yourself?

If you're only in need ot 80 sf, large pieces will eat that up pretty quick.

Best to go to the yard and pick the stones out yourself. If the yard is large enough, you may be able to lay the stones out there to insure that they fit together the way you want them to. You can also insure some regularity in thickness of the stones. Allowing others to randomly pick things out for you may not be in your best interest. If you were ordering 800 sf, that might be a different story.

We do this with broken bluestone all the time, and making the effort to pick and choose and fit and mark pretty much eliminates waste.
