Granite stone walkway and what kind of stoop?

This is my very first post. I need some help deciding on what to use for my front stoop that I'm having enlarged. My existing stoop is too small. It is currently a pretty irregular silver colored granite stone, which matches the existing walkway. I love the look; it has a lot of character. I want to keep it for my walkway but there won't be enough for the enlarged stoop. My contractor thought that a squared bluestone or flagstone (I don't know the difference) on just the stoop would be fine. The stoop and walkway will be edged in belgian block. Does anyone have a thought on this? Should I go for an irregular bluestone instead, or will this compete even more with the irregular granite? Whatever I choose I will also use for the mudroom walkway and stoop, which is in the front of the house as well but next to the garage. Or, should I just remove the granite stones and do the whole thing in bluestone? And then there's the color matching that I need to consider. I'm so confused!

A picture would help. It's hard to just imagine all the materials you are talking about and say whether they would look good together.

Personally I would use the dimensioned (squared) bluestone as it will make a nice clean edge. Especially if you are using it in a few places.

Agree that I'd like to see a picture before advising.

Do consider the material of the house too - it all needs to go with that. But also, you can still get granite; why not just buy more of that?
