brick flaking - aguywhoknows brick - can you help please?

I have a brick house that is 14 years old. I bought it 4 years ago, so I do not know who did the brickwork. Most of the brickwork looks perfect. However there are 2 areas where we are having lots of problems and I don't know why.

The house has 2 "wings" that extend out from the sides, probably just for aesthetics. (hides the cellar door behind.) It is not structural, does not support any weight. It is the same brick that the house is built in.

In this first picture you can see that this north facing wall is flaking terribly! It is not exposed to anything different than the rest of the north facing house, and the rest of the house seems fine. (The south side of just this wall is also flaking.) It is not bumped by people or cars or used for sports. What is going on with this brick?? I'm very concerned, because what if this happens to the rest of my house? Can it be fixed? I've got the little flakes, can they be "gorilla glued" back on? Should I worry? Also notice this whitish cast over some of the bricks. It is nowhere else on the house, and cannot be washed off.

In this second photo, just the top row end of bricks are falling off. Again, any idea what is causing this? Can it be stopped?

Thank you very much in advance!!

Lucky me, I got a private answer! Thanks very much to "aguywhoknowsbrick"!

Sorry that this wasn't a true "garden" question.

Can you share the answer for the benefit of the rest of the members?
