Here are a few pics of my rock work. All rocks were harvested from our farm.
The first pic shows the big awesome buscuit shaped rock and the second shows my rock walk. I am not done, but this is what I have so far.

| I love your flagstone paths and the flower beds are going to be lovely. You certainly put alot of work into this whole project, biscuit rock is awesome--it looks as if it is moss covered, is it? Thank you for sharing your gardens! |

| The 'biscuit rock' is bigger than I had imagined. You need to find a perfect location to place it to show it off with some great plant specimens. What if you put it on edge? Or put a hole through it to turn it into a fountain? I have spent the past year building rockeries and raised beds. Not a single scrap of stone gets wasted; that which cannot be used, is used as backfill for the walls. |

| Yes the rock is moss covered! I still have not found that "perfect" spot for it yet, but as you can see, it is quite a rock! That is one reason why I am having difficulties figuring out where to place it, how to place it, and then how to make it an eyecatching focal point. Heck--I may not figure it out til the middle of the summer! Thanks for the compliments! |

| If you want to keep the moss on that rock you had better get it out of the hot Houston sun. |

Hi again, You know, biscuit rock reminds me of an old millstone. At our local botanical garden, they have a millstone in the center of their cottage garden with beds radiating off in a circle from it. We were at the BG last night and I said, "There's another idea for Hothousehen's Biscuit Rock!" DH and my sons agreed. See, your rock is a family discussion topic here...:-) Karen |

| Karen........that is too funny! I can't believe that my rock is a part of your family discussions! Where is your BG at? I am wondering if they have a website that has a pic of the millstone garden. Please let me know. |

| Hi! Our botanical garden is the Green Bay Botanical Garden in Green Bay, WI; the website is below: http://www.gbbg.org/index.htm The stone cottage is where the millstone bed is located, though I don't think they have a good picture of it. There's another website on millstone landscaping (don't you love the internet? there's a website for almost everything) Here's the website: http://www.millstones.com/ideas.html They have some interesting ideas, let me know what you think! | Wow! Those millstones are great and what creative ways to use them. I wish mine was a millstone, but it is not..... no hole at all. Makes you kind of wonder though.... our property was once part of the western trail through Missouri to Kansas and we have even found a couple of very old headstone/gravemarker things. I have found my share of arrowheads here too. This rock could have definitely been used as a table for early travelers or indians. |

| The prices on those millstones are outta this world, aren't they? Wouldn't it be fun to find one of them? Do you know if Biscuit is limestone or granite? We have drilled holes thru limestone here; it isn't easy but it is possible. You probably don't want to drill a hole, lol! I'm just being nosy about the type of stone it is. We can definitely see it fitting in with the cottage garden theme in whatever way you decide to use it. Karen |

| Karen, I don't know much about rock except that our local limestone is light colored and is "soft". Biscuit Rock is most definitely not "soft". I'll try to get a better pic of it.... a close up. I don't think I want to drill a hole because then it wouldn't be the same if you know what I mean. Boy would I ever like to find a millstone though..... we are going "rocking" this weekend to find a rock that has a bowl of sorts hollowed in it by water for under my hydrant, so you never know what we will find. Maybe I'll take the camera and take pics to show you all the kinds of rock I have to chose from..... |

| Well, you know we're looking forward to seeing those pictures! Can we go too? lol There's still too much snow on the ground here, all the rocks are buried. Good luck on finding that special dished out rock, too. Rock on!! :-) Karen |

| Sorry about that! I was playing with Photobucket and made a new sub-album, so the first pics dissappeared. Let's see what I can do........ |

| I still can not get to the pictures. Please try one more time. I have my garden on Photobucket also, but I don't know how to put them on the posting yet. When I figure it out I will show my photos. |

Thank you so much all the trouble. These are my ungathered rocks of all sizes. I might try to plant around them. I love how you used them as a border. Its a lot of work, and I don't know how many flat ones I have. But the fatter ones could be used as a border.

| Good for you! I can't wait to see what you do with them. Please be sure to post pics for us. I am going rocking again this next weekend because our weather is supposed to cooperate this week and everything will dry out. I will post pics of when we go. |

Hi HHH, Its been awhile since I've written anything. But you know how it goes....so many rocks and sooo little time. And with the nice weather(and they're saying we're headed for a drought in the NW) I find myself outside chiselling, grinding, and cutting stone whenever I can. FYI to whomever wishes the info, there is a company I see advertised in the back of Garden Design magazine that sells millstones, they're out of Maine. I don't believe them to be that cheap. So as a wanter of a millstone and a carver of stone I have plans to make my own. I also have plans(way down the road LOL) to do something of the same design but a different caliber and use it in conjunction with my woodworking skills and build a manual pottery wheel. Of course I'll have to get the 800lb sandstone birdbath that I am currently carving out of the driveway first! Oh yeah, I also am putting Penn. Bluestone treads onto my front steps that I poured the other week, So they're sitting in my driveway too! As a rockaholic I have to admit the condition has affected our family life. Our first cat was named "Mason" and our current cat is named "Stoney". Everyone have a wonderful spring! Matt |
