Client wants paving around pool that doesn't get hot. I have been searching the web and the only thing that I have come up with is light colored stone or pavers. Not new. Any body have any other info?

The best option for this would be either a wood composite decking, or the newer option, a specialty plaster or concrete product designed as cool surface decking. I belive that many of these products are actually surfacing products applied to a concrete deck and thus can be stamped or faux finished to look more ornate. When using a natural stone, the lighter colors would be the only option I am aware of. When we constructed our very small spool, we wanted an exposed aggregate finish that was very hard to find here in southern, Oregon, let alone someone with the expertise to install it. It did work out, but I suspect the newer cool deck products might be popular in large markets like Arizona, Florida, and California, but harder to locate in smaller markets and more temperate climates. Anyway, as not to ramble. Try to google for "cool pool decking" MJH |

| Try India sandstone, it has a lighter shade and can have some great dramatic colors to it. The place I get my India SS sells it already square cut. Don't know how it would be for the coping around the pool however. |
