Using Crushed Granite

| Hi all,
I'm redesigning a dog park and crushed granite seems to be the general consenus for the best resurfacing material. I know it's also often used for walkways in gardens. Does anyone know the best drainage system & surfacing model for crushed granite? Is there something specific that should go under it?

| I use decomposed granite for all my gardens that I build and all I do is make sure it is several inchs deep so weeds don't grow. It seems to drain well without extra work. |

| We are thinking of replacing a lawn with decomposed granite. My very brief reading has made me feel a little concerned about mess, upkeep, and drainage using this material. Would you recommend using it for a lawn area (of about 30 x 10) or are we asking for trouble? Is the key using enough so that rainwater can drain efficiently? Many thanks for any advice! |

| pennyworth If I had that much space I would build a treated deck. I just finished a decomposed granite space 12x20 and I tried to talk the women into a deck. Now she wished she listen to me because her dogs track that stuff on to the new wood floors I installed for her. It is almost faster and the same price for the deck. |
