Rock Rescue

On Wednesday afternoon my husband's boss tells him the company is going to be re-landscaping the front of the building and the new landscaping plans do not call for any rocks (silly landscaper!) "Do you want the rocks out front?" (another silly question) Duh, whaddya think? ;-) If Carl didn't want them, they would be taken to the landfill. Well, can't have that!

Wednesday night in the middle of our first spring thunderstorm Carl and our son head back to work w/the Mighty Buick & trailer. Neither rain nor sleet nor dark of night will stop a rock rescue. The first 2 stones were around the 200-300 # range, but the last one was a bit bigger-the trailer will hold a ton easily-and after come-alonging the last one on, the tires were dragging the deck all the way home at 25mph. for 13 miles. lol They got back around 8:30PM full of mud but elated.

There they are below: now what are we going to do with them? Silly question!

Nice rocks! Granite?
Looks like two of my cats are visiting you.

Yes, they are granite, though it's hard to tell w/the mud on the big one--waiting for some more rain to wash them off. I wasn't strong enough to flip it over alone. The cats in the photo are Screech and Foxy, our resident rock inspectors, do your felines assist you, too, Botann?

Yes, my cats assist me. In a supervisory posistion, of course. They also do final inspection to test the walkability of the finished project. Finished?!! Did I say finished? I should have said "ongoing project". It seems as if nothing is ever finished here. I like it that way. Working for yourself is the best form of relaxation I know. Besides,I'm a smarter quarterback on monday morning so there is always some re-arranging to do both with rocks and plants. ;-)

You're very right about the projects being ongoing, I don't think I've ever met a gardener who said their landscape was finished either! We're about 3 projects behind right now, lol. Still trying to get the new rock 'escarpment' done, it's turning out fairly well, but will need much fine tuning...here's some pics of the progress so far:
