Concrete Patio

We have a 20+ year old patio that is approx. 24 ft X 40 ft next to our walk-out basement. It has some cracks but is level except for one area where the crack has lifted up an inch or so. We would like to make this patio look more attractive, but not sure what to do since it's pretty large. It would be costly to replace the patio. Any advice on what we could do with our patio would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

One way to deal with the crack and lifting is to rent a concrete saw, slice the cracks wider and lift out the concrete. Level the sand under that area and drop the concrete back in.

OR rent a concrete grinder (like a sander, but for concrete) and level that area by grinding it flat.

If you do either of these, make sure your dust mask is a REAL one that is listed for concrete and masonry dust. The cheap ones won't do the protective job you need.

If you make a pattern of slices and plant some grounbd cover in the new gaps it can look planned.
