Good plants to grow in crevices of stone wall?

Posted by lmarks z6 NY (My Page) on

Hi - need a little advice with plant selection here. I'm looking for tenacious little plants that will grow in the crevices of a stone wall. The catch is that most of this wall is partly shaded by a maple tree, so the sun-loving rock plants are probably out. Suggestions?? Thanks!

Can't beat thyme, ajuga reptans, lysimacchia nummularia, campanula carpatica and silver beacon. All tolerate shade.

Don't forget coridalys luta, mine self sow into all sorts of tight spots and bloom all summer in light shade.
