is there some plant with fine roots, witch can hold gravel and bigger stones of may wall together???

it should be some mediterainian plant.
but the roots sould not grow big, so that they dont break the wall.

i m building some kind of wall around some watertank. i dont have straight, big stones around. so i was thinking to fill some metallfance construktion with gravel and earth and let some plants hold everything together, for the time after the fence faded away.
