Ideas for a minor elavation change

I have a pond that is bordered with rocks about the size of footballs but with rough jagged edges. The liner now needs replacing in the pond so i will be dissasembling it this season or near the very end of the season anyway. I also have a few garden plots with the same stone as mentioned above and would like to remove all of the stone borders.... I find them hard to maintain of weeds and the long crab-grass that grows between. The previos owner just sprayed the rocks with herbicide to keep them weed free but we have cats and kids so I prefer not to go that route. My question now is .... when I remove all these rocks, I feel there must be some kind of feature I can add to my yard in way of a minor elevation change to create some depth and interest. I am thinking of just digging them in and covering with grass for the hieght change, or also I contemplate a small rock feature of some sort. It would be a shame to get rid of all this rock, cause I know when I do I will regret it and have to fetch more. They are all uniform sizes and colour and must be good for something?? Anyone have any ideas on something interesting for me to do with these rocks?? I just hate the look of weeds running throughout the borders of the pond.
Thanks in advance
Glenn

Use them to build up a waterfall of some sorts for the new pond maybe?? They could also be used to line the waterfall or running stream part of your pond if you have one. If not add BOTH =) Just an idea. When using stone to line a running brook or similiar part of your pond just carefully place the stones on top of your rubber liner,as close together as you can piece them. Than get expanding foam, we usually use black foam so its not as noticable, fill all the gaps between the stones with the foam. Cut off the excess foam when its dry. This helps keep the water running over the top of the rocks rather than undernieth them.
If the stone is very light in color you may want to use the normal tan colored foam you can get at any home depot or lowes, if dark i highly recommend a black foam.Which can possibly be found at home depot or lowes. If not try a local pond supplier, they may very well have it.
Water running over top of stones is one of the best parts of a pond IMO. Good luck with your project. Even if ya dont use my idea KEEP THE STONES =) Stack them behind the shed or somewhere until you find a use for them. You know eventually you will.

This might be a good question for the landscape design forum, since you are asking a "design" question really, rather than a stone question.

Good luck
