I am looking for a flat, natural looking stone with a horse rearing on it's hind legs and the words "Happy Trails." I would like to give it to my sister as a memorial for her late husband. I did find this exact thing at the Roy Rogers museum but after only 6 months, it crunbled to pieces. The museum is no longer doing business with that vendor. It was perfect! and I would love to replace it. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Does anyone know a place to have custom work done? I have searched the internet and have become obsessed with finding a replacement. Thanks so much. pat
Do you know if it was a real stone versus a cast stone as in concrete? A real stone would need to be sandblasted or acid etched. However a cast stone would be much easier to find or make with a mold.
I'd check on eBay. Then a Google search for cast stone, molded concrete, decorative concrete etc. Good luck.
There's a place around here that does custom rock carvings. They're called "erik's jewelers" in Tonawanda, NY. Strange to have jewelry and rocks together, but they do. Rocks range in size from hand-held to as big as a large TV. Their work is phenomenal. Check your yellow pages for different rock cutters. Call one of the big stone yards and they might know someone who does this.
This may sound a little off-the-wall but given the context perhaps it is not so odd. The people who make headstones for graves would do exactly this type of work in stone. Surely you have a local stonehewer in this line of work, or one not too far away.
