Can anyone tell me (I am located in Northen NJ) what the typical installation cost per square foot is for
1) wet laid square bluestone
2) wet laid irregular bluestone
3) dry laid square bluestone
4) dry laid irregular bluestone

I am getting prices from 18-20 to 24-26 square foot?
Thanks for your input.

Cost is highly determined by a variety of factors.

I live on the west coast where Bluestone is considered an imported high end product.
The price that you have been quoted above would not even cover our Overhead never mind reaping any profit on the job.

maybe a local professional mason from this forum can help you out better with this.

But even then, prices will vary due to the size of the company, how much insurance they cover, the overhead that they carry, and of course the skill of the craftsmen and the quality of the workmanship.

I just put some durastone flooring into my backyard walkway. Not only was it cost effective, but it was pretty much a do it yourself kinda job. I had several colors to choose from and got a great price on the durastone online. Durastone Flooring was not my first choice, limestone was, but considering the high costs and professional installation, i went with this instead. I must admit, bluesone is beautiful, but you can get the same types of colors with durastone flooring.

As another data pt, I just paid roughly $22/sf in southern CT for a walkway (5 x 7.5 ft) set with large square bluestone blocks lined with smaller rectangular bluestone. This was set on a tamped gravel mix, damp portland cement/sand mix over wire mesh, and joined with mortar.
