Pros or Cons of Brock Paver Base

Hi,

We were at Lowes over the weekend and came across Brock Paver Base (polypropylene panels that are placed over a bed of sand eliminating the need for deeper digging for a stone base - www.brockpaverbase.com). Has anyone used these before? If not can you think of any reason why they might not work?

We live in the mountains & have lots of rocks & stones just below the surface, if we can eliminate the extra 4-6 inches of digging it would be a huge help. We would like to use them for the base of a walkway with 4" thick stone pavers.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Did you end up going with the Brock paver panels as your base? I'm planning to lay a 600sf patio and have 600sf of these panels I got cheap at Habitat for Humanity. Would be nice to hear that the panels worked well for someone.

I'm looking at this product also. I'm thinking of reducing the stone to 2" and 1" sand which makes the cost on par but saves a lot of labor to excavate and transport materials into the back yard. I'm hoping to get more feedback from anyone with actual experience using this product.

yes, the panels work great! I did a 450 sq ft patio and saved saved digging and time installing it. The project is 5 years old not and in great condition.
