my latest stone project

a stairway on the side of my house. the stone is dry stacked local quarry stone. the treads are railroad ties filled with pink gravel mix.

| Looks good! The curve you put in is interesting, giving the stairs a nice flow. Was there a reason you didn't come straight down the bank? |

| i did it just for esthetics. i will probably add an arbor to the top of the stairs and sooner or later my deck will be extended and the stairs will lead to it on the bottom |

| Are the ties just sitting there or did you spike them in with rebar or something? |

| they are just sitting there currently. i had intentions of spiking them, but after digging out the steps and backfilling them once they were were level and placed right they are solid as can be. im sure adding the stone between them and the walls on the side only helped. if i notice any problem i will spike them but i think they will be fine. |
