River Stone ideas

Hello,

I am looking for some advice on using a gazillion riverstones that I have in my backyard. Currently, these stones are laid over about 4-5 inch deep over garden fabric in a 25 by 30 feet (approximate) area which is elevated and has a brick boundary and steps. The leaves and dirt in between the stones has yield a LOT of weeds etc. I am looking to fix this area. My idea was to get the area cleared out and evened out (currently it is awfully bumpy) and then carve out a 10X10 brick/stone patio in the center and overlay the riverstone over concrete on the edges from this patio to the walls of the area.

My big question is has anyone seen river stone pressed into concrete for patio area? I know the surface will be uneven, but given that I will have an even surface for setting the patio furniture, this area should be even enough to walk.

I have no idea about his kind of work and some contractors say they can do it, while some say they haev not seen this kind of thing...I am not going to it, but want to get it done...

Please hellllp!
T.

I think it's interesting as a decorative edge.

This is very pretty as well. Look at the second picture.

You could also sort by color and make patterns with the stone. I just was looking at Gordon Hayward's book "Stone in the Garden". It's full of ideas of beautiful stone work and it's informative.
