36' or smaller for large space stepping stones?

| I am designing a modern backyard with a pool. I've got a few areas that im using square concrete stepping stones. One side I have black large river rock between, and the others I have nomow grass. All 3 areas are a span of around 9' feet.
I felt like 24" stones would be too small and make the area look too crowded and take away from the pool. But I haven't seen many people use 36"... Anyone have any advice/ideas on this?
Im also trying to decide wether to use 4" or 6" between the stones.
Thanks

| 36 inches is BIG and hard to handle. If you can work with them, they'll look great. 24 inches is a good size, not small, and easier to work with. Personally I would go with 4 inches max between stones, it's easier to step over. |
