36' or smaller for large space stepping stones?

Posted by willeffects CA (My Page) on

I am designing a modern backyard with a pool. I've got a few areas that im using square concrete stepping stones. One side I have black large river rock between, and the others I have nomow grass. All 3 areas are a span of around 9' feet.

I felt like 24" stones would be too small and make the area look too crowded and take away from the pool. But I haven't seen many people use 36"... Anyone have any advice/ideas on this?

Im also trying to decide wether to use 4" or 6" between the stones.

Thanks
Will

Just to clarify, 9' wide by about 30' long

36 inches is BIG and hard to handle. If you can work with them, they'll look great. 24 inches is a good size, not small, and easier to work with.

Personally I would go with 4 inches max between stones, it's easier to step over.
