Mixing Stone Materials

Hi,

I hired a contractor to put in a patterned concrete porch, landing and curbs. Unfortunately the contractor was not very experienced, the steps are off centre to the porch and the colour of the concrete is not what I expected. I had requested a taupe/beige and instead received a very sandy/orange with a dark grey accents. I was very unhappy with the outcome, however, due to the fact that it is very expensive to have replaced I decided to wait to see if the colour would grow on me. Well, it's been about 6 weeks now and I still have not grown to like it. I would like to have the porch refaced with natural flagstone. I cannot afford to have everything replaced with flagstone, how would it look to have the porch and raised landing replaced with a grey flagstone and keep the curbs the patterned concrete. Hopefully, the grey will compliment the grey accents in the patterned concrete. Has anyone every seen these two materials used together? Sorry for the long post, I would appreciate any adivice.

Thanks

RE: Mixing Stone Materials

When you say "not very experienced" do you mean that that he was cheap and working for cash or did the contract state that his inexperience might result in a second rate job and..well..tough? Or did the contract bind him to something specific for a specific sum, if the latter, then he should fix it, if the former, what can I tell you?
