 o
bluestone questions - after install

We just had a bluestone pathway installed on our sideyard and it will continue through the backyard. All dry laid and then filled with blue DG. I know the stone was sitting in pallets at the rockyard for who knows how long and is covered in dust as a result. What I wonder is how much of that dust really wears off in time (and how long).

I picked the bluestone because we had seen so many pictures of it that we loved but this is really light dusty gray. Now I'm worried that I will have a much light path that I ever wanted and it's too late to do anything about that now.

Blue tint comes because of where it was mined like sand. Just plant some groundcover between the cracks, i.e. irish moss, ajuga, lamium, thyme or whatever your heart desires froand all your disappointment will disappear. If you want some ideas of propagating these plants after getting samples from family and friends go to:

Hi Bullthistle, and thanks. Yes, I know that. I just am not loving the overwhelmingness of the blue in the yard. It's too too much of it. Sigh.
