 o
patio stone that doesn't get too hot

We are landscaping our backyard, including several patios and pool coping, and searching for the right material. For looks, I have always been set on using bluestone, but I am starting to wonder if it will get too hot in the California sun.

I want the kids to be able to run in and out without worrying about shoes and hot feet. Does anyone have any experience with a bluestone patio and the heat on your feet? Any suggestions for alternate materials in a similar color range?

Also, I have seen flagstone in blueish colors, would this be less hot?

Any advice is appreciated.

Any dark stone in the sun will be hot. Lighter stone/cement won't be as hot but anything not shaded will be hot. Buy flip flops.
